IPL 2022: “Path Is Going To Be Challenging”- Sachin Tendulkar Gives Advice To Son Arjun Tendulkar

IPL 2022: “Path Is Going To Be Challenging”- Sachin Tendulkar Gives Advice To Son Arjun Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar couldn’t manage to make his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the second straight season despite spending a lot of time with the Mumbai Indians (MI), who bought him in IPL 2022 mega auction.

Arjun, a left-handed batter and fast bowler, has spent 28 IPL games warming the bench despite the five-time Indian Premier League champions losing 10 matches out of the 14 played in the IPL 2022 season and finishing at the bottom of the points table.

Many expected Arjun to make his debut in IPL 2021 itself given that his father Sachin Tendulkar is the mentor of the franchise and a huge personality with a lot of say within the franchise. However, Sachin Tendulkar had something different to say on this matter.

“This is a different question. What I am thinking or what I feel is not important. The season is already over,” Tendulkar said at a show ‘SachInsight’, when asked whether he would have liked to watch Arjun play this year.

“And my conversation with Arjun has always been that the path is going to be challenging, it is going to be difficult. You started playing cricket because you are in love with cricket, continue to do so, continue to work hard and results will follow,” added Tendulkar.

In his career so far, the 22-year-old Arjun has only played two T20 games for his domestic side Mumbai and featured in the ‘T20 Mumbai’ league.

Sachin Tendulkar Reveals He Never Interferes In Team Selection For MI

Sachin Tendulkar was the icon player for the Mumbai Indians when the Mukesh Ambani group bought the franchise to be based out of Mumbai in IPL 2008. He was captain of the side from 2008-2012, but missed quite a few matches due to injuries with Harbhajan Singh and Shaun Pollock captaining the side in his absence.

Tendulkar retired from the IPL in 2013, after MI won their first IPL title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, but Tendulkar has been associated with the team as their mentor and is usually seen sitting in the dugout along with coach Mahela Jayawardena and other support staff.

According to Tendulkar, a veteran of 200 Tests, as far as selection is concerned, he leaves the matter to the team management.

And if we speak about selection, I have never involved myself in selection. I leave all these things to the (team) management because that is how I have always functioned,” Tendulkar stressed.
