Earlier, after a delay of almost an hour due to rain, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis made their way to the pitch and Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and elected to bowl first.
LSG made two huge changes to the playing XI as Jason Holder and Krishnappa Gowtham were replaced by Krunal Pandya and Dushmantha Chameera. On the other hand, RCB made just a solitary change to the playing XI as Mohammed Siraj replaced Siddharth Kaul.
Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan got the first breakthrough for LSG in the first over itself by dismissing RCB captain Faf du Plessis on the 5th ball of the over for a golden duck.
After losing the wicket of skipper, Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli batted brilliantly and at the end of the powerplay, RCB were at 52/1 with Patidar at 33 and Kohli at 18.
Avesh Khan broke the 66 runs partnership between Patidar and Kohli by dismissing the latter for 25 in the 9th over.
Explosive batter Glenn Maxwell scored just 9 runs before getting dismissed by Krunal Pandya in the 11th over. After the strategic timeout leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Mahipal Lomror for 14 in the 14th over.
In the end, Rajat Patidar smashed an exceptional century and Dinesh Karthik played a terrific knock to help RCB score 207/4.
Also, in death overs, RCB batters smashed 84 runs. Rajat Patidar scored 112* runs off 54 balls, including 12 fours and 7 sixes while Dinesh Karthik scored 37* runs off 23 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six.
Chasing the target, Proteas opener Quinton de Kock was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the first over. Also, Manan Vohra played a good 19-run knock before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 5th over. Deepak Hooda played an incredible innings of 45 runs before losing his wicket in the 15th over.
In the end, KL Rahul played a 79 runs knock off 28 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes and got out in the 19th over, which was bowled by Josh Hazlewood. Krunal Pandya also got out in the same over. Evin Lewis also failed to perform well and Lucknow Super Giants were restricted at 193/6.

Batting and bowling performances were same by RCB and Lucknow but it was the fielding which made the difference. Lucknow dropped catches and RCB fielded outstanding. Congratulations to RCB. #RCBvsLSG #TATAIPL2022 pic.twitter.com/YTb3Hf4gOI

Harshal Patel has been outstanding for RCB

Prior to the season, I expected LSG and PBKS both to go all the way with the squads they had. LSG did better comparatively, but the way they started the season and the kind of depth they had, they'll regret not finishing in the top 2. #LSGvRCB #IPL2022

Lucknow over strategised. Shifted gears a bit late. Chasing 208, they finished 14 runs short even though the last 2 overs yielded nothing. Well done #RCBVSLSG

Great effort KL. No worries.
RCB need to get in. Have always admired what they do off the field.
Time for them to flex some muscles when it matters and make it work "on the field".
RCB vs RR will be another great contest.

Hasaranga has saved at least 20 runs tonight for RCB – big factor for his side.

KL Rahul made 11 runs off 12 balls against Shahbaz when Harshal and Hasaranga had several overs left. Possibly cost them the match.#LSGvRCB #IPL2022

Batted 9.4 overs for a run rate of 8.17 in a 10.4 RPO chase. This after playing 2.5 overs of the PP, where also he only scored 26 runs.
Potentially a match losing innings. Hope this innings makes him change his approach for good and unlocks the potential Buttler/Warner in him.

Harshal Patel had given up 6 runs before bowling a legal ball in the 18th over – and still ends up conceding only 8 runs in the over, with a wicket to boot. Outstanding. #RCBvLSG
